In 1946, Shri. S.N.N. Sankaralinga Iyer and Shri T.S. Narayanaswami, the two great visionaries founded The India Cements Limited.

The India Cements Limited has grown in stature over the years to become one of the largest producers of cement in the Country with a total production capacity of 15.5 Million Tonnes and with a significant market share. The company owns eight cement plants, three of which are in Tamil Nadu, two in Andhra Pradesh, two in Telangana and one in Rajasthan, apart from two cement grinding facilities - one each in Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra.

From the modest beginnings in Sankarnagar, a nondescript hamlet in the district of Tirunelveli in Southern India, over decades of relentless effort, The India Cements Limited has witnessed a dramatic growth by way of strategic acquisitions and positioning - both in the corporate as well as in the market perspectives - to command respect among its peer operatives in the Indian Industrial scenario.

The company has established and nurtured diversified enterprises; to name a few core areas like Shipping, Information Technology, Finance, Sugar, Infrastructure, Real Estate, etc.

The India Cements Limited , the diversified cement conglomerate decided to expand the business empire by venturing into the Infrastructure and Construction realm. Consequently, in the year 2013, a formal company in the name of India Cements Infrastructures Limited was incorporated to oversee Infrastructure and Construction.

The aim of India Cements Infrastructures Limited is to attain a substantial position in the Infrastructure Development & Construction business, thus effectively promoting and integrating itself along with the already established cement business.

The professional acumen and expertise of the parent company towards the execution of nationwide Industrial plants related to captive projects in the Cement, Sugar, and Power industries over the past decades has given ICIL the edge in launching and operating the new business enterprise in capable manner.

At present, ICIL is executing noteworthy projects worth Rs. 215 crore mainly in the Water & Waste Water and Industrial & Residential Building sectors and are on the lookout for enhancing the Order Book by another Rs.200 crore in FY 2013-14.
